Field Trips
Field Trips give MCHN families a chance to get out, explore, and learn together.
We try to keep many trips local to Morgan County and nearby communities. That can mean farms, orchards, fire departments, mechanics, local businesses, or other places where kids can see how things work.
We also travel farther when the opportunity is worth it. Trips may include museums, zoos, aquariums, flight museums, orchestras, plays, ballet, opera, glassblowing, and other places around Colorado.
Some trips are regular favorites that come back each year. Others happen because a good opportunity comes up and families want to go.
Learn by
Doing
Field trips give kids a chance to see things for themselves.
They may turn a wrench, watch a tradesman work, talk with a firefighter, see how glass is made, ask questions at a museum, or learn from someone who works in that field every day.
Some trips are more hands-on. Others are more educational. Both give kids a chance to learn in ways that are hard to get from a book or video.
When we can, we also look for ways to approach what we are learning from a biblical worldview.
Explore
Together
Field Trips are also a chance to spend time with other MCHN families.
Many trips take half a day or longer. Families may eat together, explore together, and give the kids time to play before or after the main activity.
It is more fun to experience something new with friends.
New Places and
New Opportunities
We usually plan one Field Trip each month during most of the school year.
Some are familiar trips that families look forward to every year. Others may be something completely different.
If a good opportunity comes up, we may add an extra trip. Sometimes only a few families go. Sometimes a large group joins in.
We also welcome ideas from MCHN families. A parent with a business, trade, profession, or skill may be able to turn what they do every day into a Field Trip for the kids.
