FamilyGatherings
Family Gatherings give MCHN families a few chances each year to slow down and just be together.
Most gatherings happen in the late afternoon or evening. That gives more dads a chance to join in too.
We usually keep things simple. There may be a potluck, games for the kids, time in the gym, or just a couple of hours to sit, talk, and enjoy being together.
Time to
Connect
Parents get time to visit while the kids play.
Conversations might be about homeschooling, work, church, family, or whatever is going on in life.
There is also room to ask for help, encourage one another, pray together, or talk through something a family may be dealing with.
Fun for the
Whole Family
Family Gatherings are for the whole family.
Parents, kids, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other family members who are part of your life are welcome to join in.
The kids might play basketball, four square, or whatever game they come up with. Sometimes we use icebreakers or other simple activities to help new families get to know everyone.
We want people to feel included and have a chance to meet families they may not already know.
Build
Friendships
Friendships take time.
Seeing the same families again and again gives both parents and kids a chance to get to know each other better.
We already share a lot in common through our faith, our families, and homeschooling. Family Gatherings give those friendships more room to grow.
Some may stay as friendships within MCHN. Others may grow well beyond it.
